NAYMOTE Liberia has completed a Civic Engagement Training for Emerging Political Leaders in Lofa County Under the auspices of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The two-day civic engagement training for emerging political leaders was held in Zorzor city, Lofa County. The training, which commenced on Monday and concluded on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, gathered thirty emerging political leaders from various communities within Lofa County.
Alphia Faith Kemokai, providing insights into the program, highlighted that the initial phase took place in Vonjama, with the current session in Zorzor focusing on an additional thirty participants from the region.
Emphasizing inclusivity, the training primarily targeted marginalized groups, including women, youth, and men with an objective to enhance participants’ understanding of leadership, election processes, civic education, and democracy empowering them to become active citizens within their respecitve communities.
Kemokai also underscored the role of the Young Political Leadership School Africa, an annual gathering of hundreds of young political leaders from across the continent, noting that the Emerging Political Leadership Training serves as a localized initiative aimed at educating community leaders. Meanwhile the participants of the two days training expressed their excitement about the training with a promise to make impact back home.
