The 2024 Liberia Taekwondo Federation National Championship is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 22, at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville City.

This championship marks the second edition under the leadership of Master Junior Pewee Russian, who assumed the role of Federation President a few years ago. According to Master Solomon Lamin, Technical Director of the Liberia Taekwondo Federation, only eight clubs have registered to participate this year, with 21 athletes from these clubs qualified to compete.

The Federation has made significant strides since emerging from a prolonged leadership crisis that severely impacted its operations for nearly 11 years. Under Master Junior Pewee Russian’s presidency, there has been considerable progress, including the establishment of national youth and senior teams and enhancements in coach training and overall human capacity.
