Lofa Bridge Town, Grand Cape Mount County – February 25, 2025
A man identified as Joshua Blama was rushed to the Lofa Bridge Clinic after mistakenly drinking a chemical substance inside a police cell at the Lofa Bridge Police Depot.
According to Afrik Media sources, the incident occurred after officers used chloride to disinfect the holding cell but inadvertently left behind a half-filled container of the chemical. Blama, who had recently been detained, unknowingly consumed the substance.
Upon discovering the situation, officers immediately transferred him to the Lofa Bridge Clinic, where he received urgent medical attention. Health workers later confirmed that his condition had stabilized, and he was subsequently discharged. He has since been returned to his home in Weajue, Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County.
Sources say Blama was taken to the police depot by his mother due to alleged misconduct at home. Authorities have launched an internal review to prevent a recurrence of such an incident.
