The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has formally lodged a complaint against residents of Lugbayee Town, Gbehlay Geh District #3, Nimba County, following a violent altercation involving its officers.
According to Special Assistant Bill M. Cooper Jr., the LDEA team was met with aggression upon arriving in Lugbayee Town. The officers were there to investigate an earlier attack on one of their members stationed in the town.
Reports indicate that the situation deteriorated when the town chief, Peter M. Sayeboe, allegedly incited the local residents to confront the officers. The confrontation resulted in multiple LDEA officers sustaining significant injuries, including broken arms, internal bleeding, and various bruises.
The injured officers are currently receiving medical treatment at Yekepa Hospital. The incident has intensified tensions in the region, prompting the LDEA to call for justice and a thorough investigation into the attack.
