Monrovia, Liberia – Honorable Lawrence M. Fahnbulleh, Public Affairs Director of the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), has been honored with the prestigious Ebola Media Excellence Award. The recognition was presented for his pivotal role in organizing daily National Press Conferences and enhancing media awareness regarding Ebola’s dangers and preventive measures during Liberia’s crisis.

The award ceremony took place on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. The Shirley Noel Group, in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Liberian Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), and other prominent health sector sponsors, hosted the Liberia Medical Summit and Excellence Award at the Monrovia City Hall Ballroom.

This event marked the first national awards ceremony since the Ebola outbreak that devastated Liberia, aiming to honor 70 members of the country’s six health associations under the LMDC for their extraordinary contributions to healthcare during the crisis.

Dr. Benetta Collins Andrews, head of the LMDC, noted that Fahnbulleh’s role during the Ebola and COVID-19 crises was so critical that a crew from France 24 traveled to Liberia to document his work and sacrifices. His exceptional efforts in a high-risk environment were specifically highlighted during the award presentation.

In response to receiving the accolade, Fahnbulleh expressed deep gratitude and committed to continuing his support for those in need. The event also recognized the six health associations affiliated with the LMDC, celebrating their collective efforts and achievements.

The red-carpet event was attended by local and international partners, as well as former and current government officials, underscoring the significance of the contributions made by health professionals during the crisis.
