Radio Kakata was established in 2004 by USAID as a community-based radio station in Kakata City Margibi County, Liberia.

Internal Affair Minister Honorable Francis Sackie Nyumalin has set up a four-man interim committee to resolve a recent saga involving the management of Radio Kakata in Kakata City, Margibi.

Mr. James D. Arkur Sr. who has been serving as the Director of programs was asked to quit his post and serve as the acting manager of the station replacing Mr. Jerry Jenkins Quoi.

Acting manager Mr James D. Arkur will work with ALICOR,Press Union of Liberia, Inter-News Liberia, and the City Council in thirty days which begun on July 30, 2024.

The team will work with the fifteenth members Board of advisors Constituted to jointly work with the Interim team to appoint the Station’s new manager.

It can be recalled, that journalists believed to be workers of Radio Kakata, a community radio station in Margibi County submitted a formal complaint to Margibi County Superintendent Honorable Victoria Worlobah Duncan requesting the removal of the station’s manager Mr. Jerry Jenkins Quoi.

the complain was made over allegations of fraud and miss management of the institution.

Upon receiving the complian, the superintendent immediately suspended the station’s manager for time indefinite, and instructed that the manager should stay down until the final investigation.

Speaking with reporters after the ruling, the internal affairs minister stated that James Arku Sr. Will serve as the acting manager for radio kakata with in 30 days.

Meanwhile, the ministers have instructed Superintendent Victoria Worlobah Duncan to collaborate with the interim committee to ensure the recruitment of a new manager and board of advisors within the same time frame.

The four-man interim committee will be providing regular reports to the inquiry committee from July 30 to August 30, 2024.

Minister Nyumalin has emphasized the importance of interim leadership in instituting a new manager and a new board of advisors to take charge of the affairs of the community Radio Station.

It is expected that the interim committee will work diligently to ensure the smooth transition to a new leadership that will continue to serve the community effectively after the 30 days.
