The management of the Ganta United Methodist hospital in Ganta City, Nimba County is calling on the government of Liberia and other Philanthropist to accommodate constrain patients who have overstayed at the facility due to inability to meetup with financial obligations.
According to the hospital’s administrator Mr. Allen Zomonway, the institution has provided health services to several patients with different surgical situations and sicknesses, and they are unable to pay their bills to be discharged after receiving medical.
He noted that several of the patients who received medical treatment at the facility have met with the requirements and they were discharged but a good number of them have overstay from February – July of this 2024 due to their inability to meetup with their medical bills after taking treatments.
Speaking in an interview with the spokesperson of those constrain patient’s Betina Karnel narrated that she and other colleagues have over stayed the hospital due to financial problems to settle their obligation with the hospital.
She said, the bill is divided into different categories, from Five Thousand LRD to Twenty-Nine Thousand LRD.
Some of the patients are owing the hospital the sum of $ 5,000 LRD, 7,000 LRD, 9,000 LRD.
She also noted that some of the patience with major cases have a bills of $11,000 LRD, $13,000LRD $22,000 LRD $29,000 LRD among others.
She added that several of them were taken to the hospital since February, March and April. and some were even hospitalized in July 2024 and do not have money to pay up to present.
Madam Karnel added the voice to the hospital to called on the public and the government to come to their aids.
