The County Education Officer (CEO) of Nimba Mr. Moses Dologbay has distanced himself from the most publicized US$50,000 dollars renovation of the Sanniquellie Central High School in Nimba county. The $50,000 United States dollars was donated for the Improving Results In Secondary Education (IRISE) project for the renovation of the oldest public secondary school, the Sanniquellie Central High in Nimba county under the former ruling Congress for Democratic Change Government.
CEO Moses Dologbay disclaimer comes barely two weeks after some civil society organizations and advocacy groups in the county accused him, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Sanniquellie Mahn Education District, Lemuel Saye, the Parent Teacher Association Chairman of the school Mr. Joseph Mensahn and Alvin Yardolo, former Principal of the Sanniquellie Central High School of diverting the amount to their personal use with little renovation work being done on the institution’s facility.
Mr. Moses Dologbay in an interview with Crew of reporters at his office in Sanniquellie Thursday June 27, 2024, said, those who are accusing him of eating government money illegally, are doing so to gain popularity at the expense of his high earned repetition. “I only monitored and supervised the renovation work but I was not a signatory to the school account, neither did I had such money in my possession.” The County Education Officer said.
As it can be recalled, the Nimba CEO was described by the Education Minister Madam Jarso Jallah as a person with “Integrity Problem” during her nationwide tour and upon visiting the Sanniquellie Central High campus to inspect the renovation site and the status of the IRISE project.
Meanwhile, Some Advocacy Groups in the county are demanding the County Education Officer to explain why he transferred Alvin Yardolo, who was Principal of the school during the renovation period. They claimed that Mr. Yardolo should have remained with the institution to give an account of the usage of the US$50,000 dollars then transferring him to another institution. The groups are also calling on the Ministry of Education to conduct a comprehensive financial audit of the amount in question for transparency and accountability in the Education sector of Liberia.
