GANTA, Nimba County – A 43-year-old man, identified as Sam Nuah, drowned on Monday in a sand pit located in the LPRC Zone #8 community, Ganta City.
The incident occurred around 11:00 AM while Nuah was working at the site. His body was recovered at approximately 4:40 PM and handed over to a 15-member jury, including health practitioners, security personnel, community leaders, and family members, to determine the cause of death.
N. Jerry Klee, administrator of the Power House Clinic and a member of the investigation team, confirmed Nuah’s death. He noted that blood was seen coming from the deceased’s mouth and forehead, but no visible signs of foul play or significant injuries were observed.
Following the examination, authorities released the body to the family for burial. Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an investigation, summoning individuals who were present at the scene for questioning.
The incident has raised concerns among residents, with some suspecting foul play while others believe Nuah’s drowning was caused by the sand pit’s depth.
