Monrovia, Liberia – March 11, 2025 – The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has officially notified the Liberian House of Representatives of the inclusion of Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon as Speaker in its official database.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Clerk, Mildred Sayon, and read during plenary on Tuesday, March 11, the IPU confirmed Speaker Koon’s recognition in its records. The notification solidifies Liberia’s parliamentary leadership on the global stage.
The IPU, a prestigious international organization comprising 180 national parliaments, plays a key role in promoting democratic governance, international cooperation, and legislative best practices. Founded in 1889, it serves as a platform for global parliamentary dialogue and policymaking.
Along with the notification, the IPU has invited Speaker Koon to participate in its 150th Assembly, set to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from April 5-9, 2025. The upcoming assembly will serve as a forum for discussions on democracy, human rights, and sustainable development among lawmakers worldwide.
Speaker Koon’s official inclusion in the IPU database marks an important milestone for Liberia, reaffirming the country’s role in international parliamentary affairs.
