The Civil Service Agency of Liberia has announced the retirement of eligible employees in Fiscal Year 2024. In a circular memorandum released on July 12, 2024, under the signature of its Director General Josiah F. Joekai Jr., the CSA has mandated all Government spending entities to notify its employees eligible for retirement as of 2024 to cease work immediately on July 31,2024.
The Agency further noted that it will formally retire and remove employees who have reached retirement age from Government payroll beginning November 2024, and transition them into the National Pension Payroll at the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP).
The CSA bos disclosed that the new batch of retirees will stay at home in August, September and October 2024, but will be entitled to their regular salaries and benefits until their final removal from the Government payroll in November of this year.
The CSA is independent from all other Ministries and Agencies of Government and serves as the central government agency responsible for managing the Civil Service. It is responsible for improving the human resources, service delivery, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Service, which entails planning human capacity needs, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and career development of civil servants. Additionally, the CSA provides policy advice to the Government of Liberia in key areas of the Civil Service including organization, staffing, pay and benefits, pension, conditions of service, and human resources development. Ultimately, the CSA ensures that the Liberian civil service is competent, professional, and motivated and that it meets the workforce needs of the Government and delivers quality, efficient services to the people of Liberia.
